  • “This is a group that truly breathes as one…”
    London Evening Standard

Three-time Grammy Award winner Branford Marsalis is one of music's brightest luminaries. At home in the world's greatest jazz clubs and grandest classical halls, this fiercely intelligent composer, jazz saxophonist and producer is praised by critics and adored by audiences everywhere. Born in New Orleans, he belongs to a distinguished musical family which includes the revered names of Ellis, Wynton, Delfeayo, and Jason Marsalis.

Branford gained initial acclaim through his work with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and his brother Wynton's quintet in the early 1980s. In the mid 90s, Branford led the group Buckshot Le Fonque which achieved mainstream success due to its accessible and unique sound that fused jazz with pop, rhythm and blues, and hip-hop. As well as touring with pop icon Sting, Branford has performed and recorded with jazz legends Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and Sonny Rollins.

Over a decade ago, Branford made the move to bring his own distinct sound to life and formed the highly successful Branford Marsalis Quartet. This tight and explosive group has become synonymous with thrilling live performances - don't miss the opportunity to catch this tour de force during Festival 2010.
